21 April 2017

Short series featuring some of the amazing people running this year's London Marathon for our charity.

Chris Arthey

Chris Arthey61-year-old Chris is aiming to become the oldest amputee to complete the London Marathon!

Chris is not a stranger to para-athletics as just last year he climbed Kilimanjaro, ran two half marathons and competed in an Olympic distance London Triathlon.

‘As a para-athlete, it's important to support organisations like Leonard Cheshire who do such good work for disabled people.’

Chris's leg was amputated above the knee following a road traffic accident in 2008.

He is running in support of his local service Hydon Hill.

‘Since our return to the UK a year ago we have been helping to get the local community more involved in Leonard Cheshire’s Hydon Hill service.’

‘Eight years on from the accident, our lives are full. We want everyone else to be supported to live rich and rewarding lives too.’

You can support Chris via his Virgin Money Giving page.
