- People living at six local homes in London and Essex were asked to make a list and check it twice. James Hambro staff said Santa’s coming to town!
Disabled people living at Leonard Cheshire homes received a bonus sackful of personally requested Christmas presents, following a generous gesture from a London-based investment firm.
Over 100 people living at six Leonard Cheshire homes received the presents. Staff at James Hambro contacted the disability charity, asking their local residents and tenants to send a list of gifts.
Janet Camp lives at St Cecilia’s, a residential home in Bromley that supports 30 disabled adults. She said:
“How lovely to receive such a beautiful gift from James Hambro staff. I love it and thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
Trudy Holland is Activities Manager at St Cecilia’s. She said:
“Our residents were overjoyed to receive beautiful, personalised Christmas gifts from James Hambro staff. Ben loved his Arsenal football shirt, Kim was delighted by her personalised mug and Yonas loved his Boss aftershave. The James Hambro staff truly put the biggest smiles on our residents’ faces and touched all our hearts. We can’t thank them enough.”
Joyce Chulu, service manager at St Cecilia’s, added:
“We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the generosity shown through the donation of presents to our residents.
“The compassion and support remind us of the strength of our community. It has brought warmth, happiness and smiles. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”
Staff at the investment firm also sent gifts to people at residential homes including Springfield Bromley, Athol House in Crystal Palace and Seven Springs in Colchester.
Tenants at Moss Road and Heathcroft in Colchester also received generous gifts. Together these sites form Essex Community Support and Enabling Service, assisting 23 disabled adults. Tenants receive help in their own flat when they need it, along with independent living skills.
Nicola Barber, Head of Charities at James Hambro, said:
“This has been an absolute pleasure. We are delighted to make a small difference to Leonard Cheshire’s residents and tenants this Christmas.”
