More than just a place to meet

Leonard Cheshire day services are the perfect place to get out and meet people. And we offer a lot more besides. Whether you want to develop your skills, try out new activities or become more independent, we’d love you to pop in and see what we’re all about.

Lively and welcoming

With a lot going on, Randall Close is great for socialising and there are always people coming and going. There are plenty of activities to get involved in, and our friendly staff will support and enable you to do the things you want to do. The centre is fully accessible and fitted out with aids including hoists and ramps. It also has an accessible gym and a computer room.

What you’ll get out of it

We’ll work with you to develop a support plan. It will include the things you like to do and things you want to achieve with us. We often help the people who use our day service to:

  • Become more independent
  • Keep healthy
  • Learn new skills
  • Get ready for work

The people you’ll meet…

Randall Close is used by a wide range of people, including people with physical disabilities, people with learning disabilities and older people. Alongside our fully trained staff you’ll meet our volunteers. They’re here to provide extra support in all sorts of ways, from running activities to just being around for a chat.

…and the things you can do

Because the activities we offer are suggested by the people who use our service, the list of things you can do here is growing all the time. Here are a few of the things you can try:

  • Exercise classes and sports
  • Local trips to museums, pubs and parks
  • Visiting services such as opticians, podiatrists and physiotherapists
  • Hairdressing and beauty sessions
  • Bingo
  • Visits from entertainers
  • IT sessions

Is this the service for you?

People with all types of disabilities and of all ages enjoy using the centre.  They include those who receive personal or individual budgets from local councils, as well as those who pay for themselves.  Once you are referred from social services after an initial assessment, you can visit the service for a trial day and decide if you’d like to join us.
