1 in 5 of us will be affected by disability in our lifetimes, yet disabled people remain one of society’s most marginalised groups. Barriers can affect every part of disabled individuals’ lives – they are as widespread as they are detrimental – and prevent many disabled people from leading what most would consider a normal life.
For almost 80 years Leonard Cheshire has challenged this, removing barriers people face to open the doors to opportunity, choice, and support in communities across the UK. Each year we make a positive impression in the lives of thousands of individuals, creating real difference.
Our social care services are situated at the heart of communities nationwide, and improve the quality of life of disabled residents. Our programmes support people to reach their potential and remove barriers they face. Our advocacy work amplifies disabled people’s voices and brings about legislative change.
