Sale of 16 services successfully completes

Leonard Cheshire has now completed the sale of 16 residential services to Valorum Care.

The sale secures a positive long-term future for these services, with Valorum Care already committed to significant investment at the services, and to build on the legacy of Leonard Cheshire in the communities at each location.

Valorum Care have now taken over the day-to-day management of the services. People living at the services will continue to receive the same high-quality care and support from the same dedicated team.

The services that have now transferred are Alne Hall, Beechwood, Champion House, Douglas House, Freshfields, Green Gables, Holme Lodge, James Burns House, John Masefield House, Kenmore, Marske Hall, Mickley Hall, Oaklands, St. Anthony’s, The Grange and Westmead.

A further Leonard Cheshire service, White Windows is also set to transfer to Valorum Care, after re-inspection by the Care Quality Commission takes place.

Since contracts were exchanged in May, Leonard Cheshire has been working closely with Valorum Care to support a smooth transition to new ownership and management.

Valorum Care already operates several regulated services for people across the UK including delivery of nursing support for those with complex needs.

Neil Heslop, CEO said:

‘I would firstly like to thank staff at these services for their immense professionalism and commitment throughout the sale.

‘I am pleased that we have now ensured the long-term future of the services and continuity of care for residents from staff they know. This was always our priority. Throughout the sale we have felt a deep sense of responsibility to the people living with us and the staff who provided support.

‘The sale will result in the kind of investment at the services that we as a charity could not justify. Funds raised from the sale will be invested by Leonard Cheshire to increase the difference we make to disabled people’s lives and widen the range of support we offer in communities across the UK.’
