Bristol care home for disabled adults rated ‘Good’ in all areas by CQC
A Bristol care home supporting disabled adults with complex needs has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
Cossham Gardens, in Kingswood, is a residential home with nursing care run by disability charity Leonard Cheshire. The home supports up to 22 disabled adults to live their lives to the full.
The CQC report from August 2026 outlined the high-quality support at the home. It praised the culture of person-centred care, driven by the service manager. The report said:
“Staff were committed to achieving positive outcomes for people and worked proactively to identify ways of enhancing their quality of life and independence. [Staff] took time to understand people's needs and goals… People spoke positively about the support they received.”
A staff member told inspectors: “We always look at how we can enhance people’s lives, through support, encouragement and trying to source new equipment.”
Inspectors said staff were “consistently kind, and caring towards people living at the home”. They highlighted that staff were “providing support in a timely and caring manner, ensuring people were encouraged to engage in activities that reflected their interests and preferences”. Meanwhile, people’s individual care plans were comprehensive and detailed.

“This achievement reflects the dedication, compassion and professionalism of our wonderful team who consistently go above and beyond to provide high-quality support. We are delighted their hard work has been recognised and remain committed to helping our residents live fulfilling and independent lives.
At a complex care service, our staff work tirelessly every day to build trusting relationships with the people we support. Creating a friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment is at the heart of everything we do.”
