YouthAbility delivers inclusive youth clubs across Cumbria for young disabled people (7 to 25 years) to build confidence, develop their skills and capabilities to facilitate a smoother transition to adulthood and leading a more independent life.
The project is delivered across three locations in Cumbria: Barrow-in-Furness, Kendal and Penrith, and primarily works with young people with physical, sensory and learning disabilities.
We also welcome and support non-disabled young people to participate in the clubs to help break down barriers and attitudes towards disability.
Young people are able to take part in a varied programme of fun, stimulating and rewarding activities that are decided and driven by the interests of the young people themselves.
Activities are delivered both at the respective club locations and also within the local community.
In the past activities, have included swimming, arts and crafts, cooking, archery, go-karting, climbing and indoor caving.
