This is a lovely voluntary role supporting a quiet man to attend 10.30am Sunday morning services at St. Ninian's Chapel, Edinburgh.
He is a wheelchar user and the chapel is a short 10 minute walk from the client's supported living accommodation.
About 2 hours on Sunday mornings; 10am-12md
The volunteer will attend weekly at the clients supported living accommodation at about 10.00am in time to walk with him to the nearby Sunday morning services, attend the service and return home with him. Services typically last about an hour.
If inclement weather then a taxi will be arranged for both.
No personal care tasks are involved and accredited wheelchair training to support the client using his wheelchair will be given.
The rewards are self-evident in that you will be supporting a person with physical disability to take part in a fundamentally important activity by which his inclusion and spiritual well-being is truly enhanced.
Volunteers are highly valued and respected by Leonard Cheshire as well as the people who use our service and so volunteers also are fully supported by the charity in their role.
