Engage: six-week employability skills course

In partnership with Tomorrow's People, we provide a six-week employability skills programme for young people aged 18 to 35 based in the London borough of Barking.

Who we support

Our focus is on the young people who need additional support to get them into the world of work. This may be through disadvantage or disability 

What it is

An employability skills course run over six weeks in both group and one-to-one settings. We focus on the following areas.

  • ICT and technology
  • managing your finances
  • communication skills and relationship building
  • travel and route planning
  • managing your condition or disability

Our offer

At the end of the six-week course, individuals will be able to:

  • identify their career goals and the small steps needed to achieve them
  • recognise their skills, experience and abilities
  • understand the local labour market and job opportunities
  • search for jobs online
  • complete application forms, write personal statements and create targeted CVs
  • understand their condition or disability and the reasonable adjustments employers can make
  • have had feedback from employers and engaged in work experience
