Weather presenter Sian Welby predicts a baking hot summer for Give & Bake
30 June 2016
Give & Bake launches 1 July.
It's all about bringing together friends, family and work colleagues for a cup of tea and a slice of cake in exchange for a donation to Leonard Cheshire Disability, which will directly support disabled people locally.
Sian volunteers at the charity’s Randall Close service in Wandsworth, a day centre for disabled people, and is asking everyone to get their baking hats on for a good cause.
‘You don’t need to worry about your bakes being judged for having a soggy bottom, just have fun with your friends and family, and raise loads of dough for Leonard Cheshire Disability.
‘I’m delighted to support Give & Bake, and help make a positive difference to the lives of disabled people.’
Leonard Cheshire Disability events manager Fiona Woods said:
‘Signing up to make a few treats for friends will directly support disabled people in communities across the UK.
‘Your donation will help deliver activities, day trips, communication technology, transport and physiotherapy — to name just a few things that make a world of difference to the people we support.’
One in six people are disabled in the UK, and disability can affect anyone at any time in their lives.
When it does, Leonard Cheshire Disability is there to help and support people to live the lives they choose.
