Varsity Voices release charity single in aid of Leonard Cheshire Disability
30 November 2015
The teams have formed Varsity Voices to sing what they hope will be a big Christmas hit.
‘No Christmas without You’ is an original song written by Matt Bond and Martyn ‘Ginge’ Ford and features the voices of eight players who hope to be representing their clubs at this year’s Varsity Matches at Twickenham on 10 December.
The Varsity Voices marketing manager, who is behind the song, said:
‘Leonard Cheshire Disability is our official charity and we were looking for another way of raising even more money to help fund the great work they do.
‘Knowing that we all like a good singalong in the showers after the game, we came up with the idea of a Christmas song.
‘Matt and Ginge’s song is so catchy and we really enjoyed recording it.
‘Now we have the finished version we know it has a good chance of getting into the charts.’
No Christmas Without You will be available for download through all major providers.*
Downloaders will also receive a free bonus track of Varsity Voices own rendition of the Christmas classic ‘Rocking Around the Christmas Tree’.
The Varsity Voices are Bláthnaid McCullagh — St. John's College, Oxford; Henry de Berker — Green Templeton College, Oxford; Oliver Clough — St Edmund's College, Cambridge; Max Montgomery — Emmanuel College, Cambridge; Nikki Weckman — Trinity College, Cambridge; Sebastian Tullie — Emmanuel College, Cambridge; Ayala Donegan — Girton College, Cambridge; Laura Nunez-Mulder — Emmanuel College, Cambridge.
The Varsity Voices and Leonard Cheshire Disability would like to thank Ede & Ravenscroft tailors for their kind financial support, without which the song would never have happened.
Leonard Cheshire Disability supports thousands of disabled people every year to live as independently as possible.
The ambition of the charity’s founder was to provide expert care and support to any disabled person anywhere in the world, and of giving them dignity and respect in everything they do.
That drive remains alive in Leonard Cheshire Disability today.
