Response to the NHS sustainability committee report

4 April 2017

In response to the NHS sustainability committee report, our policy and research manager Rosanna Singler said:

‘The NHS sustainability committee report recognises the crisis taking place in both the NHS and social care. The report emphasises how pressures in social care pose a significant threat to the stability of the NHS.

‘We know from our own research that 48% of disabled adults who say they need social care do not receive any support at all. Disabled people are left isolated and unable to get the support they need to live in dignity.

‘In our report, The State of Social Care, we called — and continue to call — for an independent cross-party commission to deliver a fair and sustainable long term funding solution. As today’s report underlines, a long term settlement is an urgent priority.’
