Response to last night’s parliament vote on personal independence payment benefit

28 March 2017

In response to last night’s parliament vote on personal independence payment benefit, our chief executive Neil Heslop said:

‘We remain concerned the government’s proposed further cuts to support for disabled people will prevent some disabled people from getting a personal independence payment (PIP), as well as making an unhelpful distinction between physical and mental health conditions.

‘Following the "regret motion" passed in the House of Lords last night, it is important the government now commits to keeping this issue under close review to monitor the impact of these changes.

‘Without this financial support, disabled people will face significant struggles in their daily lives and some may even be forced to give up their jobs.’
