Response to Equality and Human Rights Commission’s disability report
4 April 2017
In response to Equality and Human Rights Commission’s disability report, our policy and research manager Rosanna Singler said:
‘Disabled people continue to face major barriers to the training and support they need to take their first steps into employment.
‘Young disabled people are twice as likely to be unemployed and gaps in opportunity have remained consistently wide for the past decade.
‘A little extra support such as specialist careers advice, mentoring, and help to navigate services can smooth the transition from school to further education, apprenticeships and employment.
‘This can transform lives and ensure society benefits from the talent and skills of disabled people.’
