Our campaigns director responds to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission report
30 October 2015
Responding to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission report issued today, Leonard Cheshire Disability campaigns director, Andy Cole said:
‘Today’s report highlights the stark reality that many young disabled people face being twice as likely to be out of education, employment or training than non-disabled people.
‘Businesses and the government need to do more. Businesses are missing out on a valuable pool of talent, underlined by the decline in numbers of disabled apprentices from 10% in 2009 to 9% in 2013.
‘And the government must boost opportunities for young disabled people as well as ensure employers get the support they need to meet their challenge of halving the disability employment gap.’
