Leading disability charity appoints new trustees

17 February 2015

Leonard Cheshire Disability has appointed two new trustees who will cover Wales and Northern Ireland.

Elizabeth Haywood, who joined the board in December as the new link role for Wales, has held a wide variety of business roles, as well as being involved in governmental lobbying in Wales and London, and sitting on a number of commercial, charity and public sector boards.

Rena Shepherd, who started in January as the new link role for Northern Ireland, has held senior executive roles in a number of companies, using her position to champion diversity and disability in the workplace. Rena has also held a range of public appointments in the health and social care sector in Northern Ireland and has until recently served on the board of the Northern Ireland Chamber of Commerce. Rena has a good understanding of the care environment and is a disabled person herself.

Ilyas Khan, Chairman of Leonard Cheshire Disability, said: ‘The appointment of Elizabeth and Rena to the board of trustees further strengthens our knowledge base. In addition, their experience of working and lobbying in Wales and Northern Ireland, respectively, adds further depth to our understanding of those nations.’

Elizabeth and Rena have been appointed for an initial period of three years.
