Disability employment figures show 51,000 more people in work
17 February 2016
Commenting on today’s disability employment figures from the ONS, Leonard Cheshire Disability’s head of policy and campaigns Patrick Olszowski said:
‘The government’s commitment to halve the disability employment gap is one of their most ambitious and exciting commitments for disabled people this parliament.
‘Today’s figures show 51,000 more disabled people are now in work compared to three months ago. This is good news but there is a still a long way to go.
‘To turn its target into a reality, more than a million disabled people will have to be supported into employment by 2020 — that’s 5,000 every week.
‘Only then will we have a truly inclusive workforce that gives disabled people the opportunity to live the lives they choose.’
