Clare Pelham responds to the call for a cross-party commission into health and social care in England
6 January 2016
In response to the call for a cross-party commission into health and social care in England, Leonard Cheshire Disability chief executive Clare Pelham said:
‘Discussions about health and social care are now in danger of becoming party political point-scoring exercises.
‘But care is important and care is personal. Personal to the person requiring care, personal to the person providing care and personal to us all as a litmus test of whether we are living in a caring society.
‘That is why care crosses party political boundaries. And why we welcome the call for a cross-party commission to work out some answers for the next decade and beyond.
‘A commission to put the personal back into the debate about care — and to take out the political.’
