Young Voices campaigner speaks at high profile global education forum

Ashwini sitting in a chair speaking into a microphone. Young Voices campaigner Ashwini Angadi from India recently spoke at the Global Education and Skills Forum in Dubai. The forum was attended by more than 850 world leaders, business leaders, government ministers, and education experts attended the forum, including President Bill Clinton and Tony Blair.

Ashwini called on delegates to join her in fighting for the right to education for girls with disabilities during a panel session on empowering adolescent girls. She said: ‘I am a great example of what can be achieved by a girl with disability if she gets an education.’

Ashwini made headlines last year when she was awarded the UN Youth Courage Award for Education by Gordon Brown, the UN Special Envoy for Education for fighting against odds to study and going on to campaign for the right to education for children with disabilities.
