Volunteer's dedication recognised with special award
10 December 2015
Leonard Cheshire volunteer Bill Moran was awarded the overall Special Award at this year’s Dumfries and Galloway Life Awards.
The Special Award is given to those deemed to be worthy of extra special recognition.
83-year-old Bill's win acknowledged his contribution to our charity and his amazing dedication to fundraising.
Bill takes part in fundraising collections every two weeks with an infectious smile, cheerful outlook and a truly caring drive for people with disabilities.
Modest Bill often receives gestures of goodwill from the public while fundraising.
‘I don’t do anything for recognition or reward, as I thoroughly enjoy doing the collections for Leonard Cheshire Disability and meeting kind people.
‘Young people are very generous and give donations. This is my life now. I only agreed to attend the awards if it gave recognition to Leonard Cheshire Disability and all our volunteers and staff who do such wonderful work.’
