Shared memories: celebrating Grandpa Bill

7 July 2016

Grandpa Bill with his granddaughter, LoisBill Perkins volunteered at Greathouse care home in Wiltshire for over 50 years.

He played Scrabble with residents, read to them, and wrote letters for those who couldn’t write themselves.

Everyone was saddened when he passed away in 2013.

Bill’s family knew how much Greathouse meant to him. That’s why they now have a Shared Memories page to celebrate his life and continue his legacy.

‘It has been a wonderful way to bring the family together and recognise how much he meant to us all.

‘Grandpa had left a gift in his will. So my dad and uncle decided to add to that. Together they paid for the refurbishment of the computer room.’ — Lois, Bill’s granddaughter

Alongside these generous donations, Lois’s dad did the London to Paris Cycle Ride to raise money for us, and Lois ran a half marathon.

‘I know Grandpa would have been so pleased that we’ve raised more than £5,000.’ — Lois

We’re grateful to Bill’s family, and happy to celebrate his life with them.
