Neil Heslop's letter to The Times on social care

11 November 2016

Our chief executive Neil Heslop wrote a letter to The Times in response to their article on ‘Careless Care’ (behind paywall).

‘Your leader on “Careless Care” echoes the findings of our research into the current state of social care and how this is impacting on the lives of disabled people across the country.

‘In the forthcoming autumn statement the government should ensure both health and social care get the funding required. In the longer term, we need an honest national conversation on social care led by a cross-party commission to create a sustainable system that works for all.

‘At Leonard Cheshire our research found 48% of disabled adults who say they need social care do not receive any support at all.

‘This is a national scandal which demands the political courage you call for.’ — Neil Heslop, chief executive, Leonard Cheshire Disability
