Mike Can Do!

6 July 2017

Mike holding his bug hotelOur Can Do volunteering programme offers support, information and training to young disabled people, and helps them take on volunteering roles.

Since 2008, Can Do has helped thousands of young people to contribute to their local communities, while also building their skills and self confidence.

As a result, many have seen their education and employment prospects boosted.

Mike gets the bug

Mike took part in Can Do, which gave him the chance to try out a variety of activities — from cooking for homeless people to learning about insects and conservation. He even built a bug hotel!

Mike has a severe learning disability, which means he can sometimes struggle with words and to express himself. Through Can Do, his confidence blossomed and he was able to achieve a City & Guilds award.

‘The skills and confidence I have gained through Can Do are going to help me for the rest of my life.’

— Heidi, Can Do volunteer

Now we’re planning on expanding Can Do to even more locations across the country!
