Corgi crowns Queen's card competition

8 June 2016

To celebrate the 90th birthday of our patron, Her Majesty the Queen, we asked the people who use our services to design a card for her!

We had no shortage of imaginative entries pour in. The winner was chosen by votes cast by our staff throughout the country.

After 700 votes, the winner was clear: congratulations to Heatherley on their winning entry!

A card with a corgi, made of felt, holding birthday bunting. The winning card features a felt Corgi wearing a jewelled crown and necklace on a large yellow piece of card.

Janet Peters and Sandra Bedwell, who both use our services at Heatherley in West Sussex, were the duo behind the card, which was sent in by Melanie Brimicombe, their physiotherapy assistant.

'We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in this competition. The talent at our charity is clear to see and I thank everyone who got involved for their efforts.

'It’s a great way to celebrate our patron — and voting is always fun! Well done to our winners at Heatherley.' — Rosemarie Pardington, acting chief executive

Janet and Sandra will go with Heatherley's service manager Jane Lightfoot to Buckingham Palace to deliver the card.

Comments

These cards are all super and I do hope Her Majesty can see them.

What I ask is - was the 'Happy Birthday' a string of pearls, or, being the usual type of thought for dogs, sausages!

Great work everyone.
