Care homes in rugby heaven

10 November 2016

Cambridge rugby players and residents at The ManorAhead of this year's Varsity Match, two of our care homes got special visits from Oxford and Cambridge Universities' rugby teams.

Teams from Oxford University came to see the residents at Agnes Court in Banbury, whereas the Cambridge teams headed to The Manor in Brampton!

‘It was a really good visit. It was nice to talk to so many interesting people.’ — Andrew Mitchell, resident

The players and residents chatted all things rugby over tea and cake and even managed to fit in a quick game of catch!

‘Coming here today opened my eyes to what the Varsity fundraising will go towards.

‘If any of my closest family were at this home they would be really happy. That’s the most important thing.’ — Catherine Maywilcock, Oxford women's team captain

It was great for both teams to see first-hand how donations from the match will able to help to support residents.

‘I just spent the last couple of hours talking to some amazing men and women, it’s been a fantastic experience to hear about and see the really amazing work being done here.’ — Daniel Dass, Cambridge men's team captain
