Enjoy activities

The home offers a range of activities for residents, including pottery and crafts, games, reading and card-making. You’ll have the chance to be social, get creative or enjoy exercise — you choose. We encourage people to take part but there’s no pressure.

Group activities aren’t for everyone and you might just want to do things on your own. If so, we can help. If you need support, one option is to find a volunteer to come along with you.

Whatever activities you’d like to do, you can always talk to one of our team about the different choices available to you.

Rob's story

Rob, a resident from James Burns House

‘James Burns House has been my home for five and a half years.

‘Since I arrived here everything has been good. My mobility has really improved and I feel very independent. I can get out and about a lot, on my own and on organised trips. They adapted one of the vans so my wheelchair can fit, which has made a big difference.

‘There are also lots of activities that you can take part in, like painting, clay work and live entertainment. Our activities person is absolutely fantastic — she really knows how to get the best out of people.

‘The staff who work here, show acts of kindness above and beyond what they have to do. James Burns has given me the love, security and happiness I need to live a full life.’
