Enjoy activities

You’ll have the chance to be social, get creative or enjoy exercise — you choose. We encourage people to take part but there’s no pressure.

Group activities aren’t for everyone and you might just want to do things on your own. If so, we can help. If you need support, one option is to find a volunteer to come along with you.

Whatever activities you’d like to do, you can always talk to one of our team about the different choices available to you.

Dot's Story

‘I’ve lived at Beechwood for 18 months now. I was living locally in my own home before, which was getting difficult. I’ve had MS for 27 years.

‘I like the garden here and that there’s plenty of space. You can always talk to the manager — there’s a nice atmosphere. And the bathroom arrangements are a lot better than where I was!

‘We have volunteers here — some of them have just taken driving tests so they can drive our minibus and we can go out easily. I’m going shopping in Castleton on Wednesday, which I’m looking forward to.

‘I’ve been involved in raising money to develop the front garden. I did a sponsored slim and we ran a monthly lottery. Our next plan is a coffee morning. Someone has suggested I do a sponsored silence, but I’m not sure about that!’
