A warm welcome to Beechwood
We provide support and nursing care for physically disabled adults with complex needs. Our team is fully trained and we’re regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
You’ll find us in a peaceful and pleasant setting in Edgerton, near Huddersfield. The home is within walking distance of Lindley village which has plenty of local amenities, including shops, restaurants and pubs.
Facilities for you
Beechwood is a detached Victorian house with extensive gardens. There’s always room for you to welcome your family and friends or get together with other residents.
- 26 bedrooms, some with en suite facilities
- each room has a profiling bed with overhead hoist and can be adapted to your individual needs
- spacious lounge and dining room
- activities room
- a lovely garden with patio
We make sure mealtimes can be enjoyed by everyone. Our menus are planned by our residents and staff — tell us about your favourite dish!
You’ll have the chance to be social, get creative or enjoy exercise — you choose. We encourage people to take part but there’s no pressure.
Group activities aren’t for everyone and you might just want to do things on your own. If so, we can help. If you need support, one option is to find a volunteer to come along with you.
Whatever activities you’d like to do, you can always talk to one of our team about the different choices available to you.
‘I’ve lived at Beechwood for 18 months now. I was living locally in my own home before, which was getting difficult. I’ve had MS for 27 years.
‘I like the garden here and that there’s plenty of space. You can always talk to the manager — there’s a nice atmosphere. And the bathroom arrangements are a lot better than where I was!
‘We have volunteers here — some of them have just taken driving tests so they can drive our minibus and we can go out easily. I’m going shopping in Castleton on Wednesday, which I’m looking forward to.
‘I’ve been involved in raising money to develop the front garden. I did a sponsored slim and we ran a monthly lottery. Our next plan is a coffee morning. Someone has suggested I do a sponsored silence, but I’m not sure about that!’
