Worldwide, more than 1 in 3 women have experienced some form of physical or sexual violence. Women and girls with disabilities are more vulnerable to domestic violence and assault than those without disabilities.

This project will address the root causes of gender based violence and discrimination against women with disabilities in India. As well as documenting evidence of the causes and forms of violence against women with disabilities, we are supporting 300 women by providing them with legal aid, access to rehabilitation services and empowering them to become economically and socially independent.

Project targets:

  • 300 women with disabilities informed about their rights and assisted to address issues of discrimination and violence.
  • 90 women with disabilities to receive training and support to enter employment.
  • 30 women with disabilities affected by violence given counselling and legal aid support.
