How to leave us a gift in your will
We recommend that you use a solicitor to have your will drafted or updated, as this will ensure that your wishes are carried out correctly.
Types of gift
We are very grateful for every gift we receive and there are several different kinds you can leave to Leonard Cheshire Disability in your will.
A share of your estate
Known as a ‘residuary legacy’, this is a percentage of what remains of your estate after all other gifts and expenses have been paid.
‘I give to Leonard Cheshire Disability of 66 South Lambeth Road, London SW8 1RL, Charity registration number 218186 and Scottish Registered charity no SC005117 all [or ……% share] of my residuary estate for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the duly authorised Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.’
A set amount of money
Called a 'pecuniary legacy', this is a gift of a specific sum.
‘I give to Leonard Cheshire Disability of 66 South Lambeth Road, London SW8 1RL, Charity registration no. 218186 and Scottish Registered charity no SC005117 free of all tax the sum of £… for its general charitable purposes. I declare that the receipt of the duly authorised Officer shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my executors.’
If you are thinking of setting up a trust fund for the benefit of a family member while they are alive, you may decide that any sum of money left in the trust after their death will go to Leonard Cheshire Disability.
When including Leonard Cheshire Disability as a beneficiary in a trust that you set up, please remember to use our full name and address:
Leonard Cheshire Disability
66 South Lambeth Road
London SW8 1RL
Registered charity number: 218186 (in England & Wales) and no. SC005117 (Scotland)
You can leave us something of value such as a painting, property or shares.
A reversionary gift
This gift allows you to leave your estate (or particular assets) to a named individual for their lifetime, but after they pass away the share you intended for Leonard Cheshire Disability will be passed to us.
