Summary

We are currently recruiting a volunteer to help demonstrate a variety of assistive hardware and assist with the support of using online video software such as Zoom and Teams

We ask that volunteers commit to a set day/s each week. Hours are flexible.

Role description

Key responsibilities

  • To support residents utilise assistive technology
  • To work in partnership with customers encouraging choice, participation, and motivation.
  • To liaise closely with the Lead Digital Volunteer and Community Volunteer Coordinator
  • To comply with all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Promote online skills
  • Demonstrate online video calling software
  • Explain online safety

Essential requirements

  • Competent IT user
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Can work as part of a team
  • Reliable
  • Sympathetic to barriers to online skills ie: age, language and disability
  • Show commitment to Leonard Cheshire’s ethos and values.

Desirable requirements

  • To have experience of working with customers who have disabilities.

Training and Requirements

  • This volunteer position requires an interview, 2 references and an enhanced DBS (arranged by Leonard Cheshire)
  • All volunteers will be given a full service induction and trained in how to use the technology.

This is a valued role that provides the opportunity to make new friends and meet new people.

Expenses will be reimbursed in line with our reimbursement of expenses policy.

If based within a Leonard Cheshire care home in England this role will be subject to the requirements of The Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) (Amendment) (Coronavirus) Regulations 2021. Successful volunteer applicants will need to be able to evidence to our satisfaction that they are vaccinated, or are exempt from vaccination due to clinical reasons.
