Role description

We have formed a community group linked with the Dorchester Community Church in New Poundbury in Dorchester. The group helps connect local people who are isolated and/or live with a disability.

We hold the group twice a month in the Community Church. Group members can enjoy chatting over a cuppa to help build new friendships.  We have volunteers who provide music, talks and demos.

The group is a new project we plan to fundraise to help provide outings and other activities in the future.

We are looking to recruit volunteers to help make the group an ongoing success. General helpers including making refreshments, preparing and tidying the venue as well as befriender to help people connect and build their confidence.

As the group is supporting vulnerable people there is an induction process for volunteers to complete which includes providing two references, and ID documents for a DBS check.  There is also other health & safety/ safeguarding related training as part of our induction training. Please allow 2-3 weeks for all the training to be complete, before you can start your regular volunteering role. We do offer one taster session within the group.
