Community Volunteering Assistant | Central Region


We are currently recruiting for a community volunteering assistant to assist our local volunteering team with developing the volunteering programme across the Leicestershire & Derbyshire areas.

Time commitment

  • 3-month minimum commitment
  • 5 hours per week minimum

Role description

Key activities to include:

  • Support on research into locations around the Derbyshire and Leicestershire area to inform the development of volunteering in community locations.
  • Keep up to date with what’s going on in the Central area to update the CVC
  • Attend networking events (may be online)
  • Help to build partnerships across the region eg with corporates, universities, schools, colleges, voluntary groups and other organisations.
  • Promotion of volunteering programme and opportunities.
  • Support with recruitment processes if needed eg role descriptions, interviews etc
  • General admin

Keys skills/qualities needed:

  • A genuine commitment to the values and ethos of Leonard Cheshire
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • IT skills in standard packages such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook (or similar)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Experience of working with disabled people is desirable
  • Passion, enthusiasm and a real commitment to make a difference
  • Be able to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a team

Supervision and support

  • All new volunteers will be introduced to relevant paid staff and other volunteers they may come into contact with.
  • Regular group review and support meetings will be arranged on a six-monthly basis. Additional one-to-one support meetings can also be arranged if required.
