Summary

We are offering a fantastic opportunity to participate in a community allotment project. You would be responsible for working on the allotment under direction & assisting Leonard Cheshire residents and other community partners to use the space.

Role description

The role will consist of, but not be limited to:

  • Working with the Community Allotment Lead Volunteer to plan and maintain the allotment.
  • Facilitating access to community groups including Leonard Cheshire residents.
  • Providing assistance to other allotment users.

Key skills/Qualities:

  • Prior gardening experience desirable, enthusiasm – essential!
  • Friendly and welcoming personality
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Experience working with disabled people and community groups desirable
  • Reasonable out of pocket expenses associated with carrying out this role will be reimbursed.

Training and support

Full induction training including;

  • Information on Leonard Cheshire
  • Leonard Cheshire’s policies and procedures, including boundaries
  • Disability rights & Communication
  • Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA)

Supervision and support

  • All new volunteers will be introduced to relevant paid staff and other volunteers they may come into contact with.
  • Regular group review and support meetings will be arranged on a six-monthly basis. Additional one-to-one support meetings can also be arranged if required.
