Activities Befriender Volunteer-Dumfries (#015)

We have an exciting and very rewarding opportunity for a volunteer to support a young man who has learning difficulties to engage in pass-times, hobbies and learning computer skills.

Time commitment

Volunteering visits are discussed to agree the best and suitable days and times for everyone concerned. Visits would normally take place in the afternoon or early evening.

Role description

The volunteer will attend at the residents supported living house and, supported by staff, see the residents in his flat and engage in his chosen pass-times and hobbies or go out for short walks in the community. Visits are usually no more than 2 hours and can be weekly, fortnightly, monthly or as agreed to suit.

Opportunity highlights

The rewards for supporting people with disability are immense both for the volunteer and the resident; personal satisfaction, sense of achievement, inclusivity and skills and job opportunities.
