Activities Befriender Volunteer (#016)
We're looking for a male volunteer to visit a disabled man for chats, read books and play board games (dominoes, chess) in our supported living service in the early afternoon or evenings.
Normally only around one-two hours per befriending visit once or twice a week two on days and at times to suit all parties.
A very rewarding opportunity for a volunteer befriender to attend at our supported living service in Dumfries and support the male resident who has learning difficulties to do pass-times or activities as agreed or to go out into the community for short walks.
No personal care tasks are involved.
All travel and other necessary expenses are paid and full support is on hand.
As well as making a real difference to the life of another, volunteers will gain considerable personal satisfaction and confidence as well as experience in communication and community engagement suitable for many life skills and CV enhancement.
Short and straight forward training modules will be given for completion at home in your own time in; Adult Support & Protection; Disability Equality, Manual Handling and Data Security Awareness.
