The real cost of the lack of disabled-friendly homes

27 February 2015

Our research has found that in one month 15,000 hours of GPs' time was taken up with disabled people's injuries, illnesses or other health problems experienced because of their inaccessible homes.

Some GPs had more than 20 appointments in one month for health problems caused by inaccessible homes.

35% of managers from Leonard Cheshire Disability residential services said there is at least one person living at the service they manage who would like to live more independently but is unable to do so because there is nowhere accessible for them to live.
